Nighty Confrontations 1

As I promised earlier, here’s a series of posts about some hilarious (though a bit frightening) times my friends and I got stopped by police patrols or intelligence agents late at night. We often get suspected and stopped for a routine check since we’re a bunch of guys moving around at night. It’s pretty hard to avoid the night watch because police patrols can be hidden anywhere while Intelligence agents simply appear from the void. Maybe the biggest lesson we learnt through all these experiences is that the streets are never empty as they may look like …

(9orah archiveyyeh ma elha 5a9 bil mawdoo3)

I usually hang out with my schoolmates; Waseem, Sami and Zaid because so far those are the only ones I knew who can stay up till the dawn. Waseem asked me not to mention his name on this blog, so I’ll call him Mr. X from now on :P

Story 1: Sho Teshrab?

This was one of the first times we got stopped by a night patrol. It was the four of us in Mr. X’s Hyundai bus. I was a bit scared because I still haven’t got used to being stopped by the police back then. The police officer asked us for our IDs and was going through them …

Officer: Tarawneh? Meen feekom Tarawneh?

Ghaith: Ana

Officer: Tarawneh sho teshrab?

Ghaith (thinking): sho “ashrab”??! Am I dreaming or did he just offer me a drink?! Since when did police patrols start to offer drinks??

(2 seconds pause)

Ghaith (still thinking): I have no idea what’s going on but I guess I’ll go for tea, or coffee, or … could they possible have Nescafe?

Sami (breaking the silence): Mohandis 7asoob!

Ghaith (thinking): what??

Officer: wil shabab?

Sami: kolhom handaseh, oo ana 6eb.

Officer: esh 6al3een hassa tsawwo?

Mr. X: wala eshee, ga3deen benlaflef …

Officer (handling the IDs): twakkalo 3ala Allah.

(Seconds after we moved on, and I was still trying to figure out what has just happened …)

Sami: Ghaith lesh ma jawabto lamma sa2alek esh bteshta3’el?

Ghaith: esh “bashta3’el”?! sme3to 7aka “esh teshrab”!!

(2 seconds pause)

Everybody went laughing hysterically!!

Story 2 coming in next post ...

Yeah man it's Sweleh street, right infront of Sansho's place. I took it when we left the last time, while you were busy starting the McLaren ;)

Thanks for passing by in peace this time, much appreciated :)

Thought of telling you though; part 2 of the series will be scanned thoroughly before publishing. A group of professionals has already been assigned to go through the post word by word and look out for potential “misunderstandings”, you'll need to be really creative this time :P

BTW, your commenting privileges on this blog has been fully restored.

John Doe this is the last time I give you this warning:

Don't ever think of pointing your lame comments or ridiculous arguments to me, my blog contents, or my readers.

Whether we're happy about something or not is not of your business. Stay cool about you read or else, your comments will be blocked forever. I've already coded a special script for you in the commenting system … it's only a click away.

    Don't make me use it.

And chill out i didn't offence anyone, y do u keep whining, it's just harmless comments.

Plus -and now i'm being serious- did u really think i liked part one.
And as comments are enabled i can say if i don't like them, the way i say it shouldn't be a problem.

And don't forget if u block my comments how will u know if ur team of "specialists" was successful in his mission?

Yeah you should've felt special because you're the only one being treated like a child here :)

I didn't think for one second whether you liked the post or not because I don't care at all; your junk views aren't a matter of interest in this blog.

You need to understand that although you're free to express whatever opinions you have about the posts, but you're definitely NOT allowed to do so “the way you want”. If you have something to contribute, say it politely and mind your own manners, the way all the ladies and gentlemen above did. Sarcasm is NOT welcomed here, therefore mind the subject of your comments too.

As I said earlier, this will be the final warning John Doe. Next time the spam script is activated, it won't only discard your comments; it will do something a bit more “disturbing” :)

This script is proving to be more useful than I thought! it's blocking all unwanted comments with 100% efficiency! The weird thing is: nobody was submitting unwanted comments untill I implemented the script :D

Anyway, beddek menno? wala yhemmek, ra7 a3abbeelek menno shwai :P
